Now that the winter holidays are gone, and summer holidays are booked, we finally have the time to prepare ourselves for the new season and why not, renovation. New lights, new colours, new layouts, whatever will be, it’s time to consider something new!
What’s new then? This year we’ll see an increased focus on humanity, eco-sustainability and innovative design. Earthy and bold colours are the new design trends, while eco-sustainable choices are always more available. It is all about going back to earth, to us, and look at the future with joy again!
Earthy and bold colours to feel good
Anticipated for 2024 is a shift towards sustainable and earth-friendly colour palettes in interior design. Organic browns, greens, blues and purples are expected to take centre stage, reflecting a commitment to bringing grounding elements of nature into interior spaces. Greys will turn into browns, in fabrics and textiles but also in cabinetry and case goods, interiors designers state. According to a recent survey on design trends conducted by the New York Design Center, over 90 percent of respondents predict that brown will be the colour of choice in 2024.
Finally, this will be the year of investments in vibrant and audacious colour choices. interior designers state that people are tired of playing it safe by sticking with neutrals and soft textures. “People no longer want their home to look just like their neighbours, but instead want their home to be one of a kind.” Be brave!
Curves, as Mother nature intended
In the coming year, we can expect to witness a harmonious blend of organic and sustainable shapes in interior design. Organic, fluid forms will continue to create a sense of natural movement and a connection to the environment.
Curvy furniture has reemerged in the past few years, but the trend will come to a peak in 2024. “Mother Nature does organic shapes best, so it makes sense we’d want to pull that inspiration into our homes”, designers say.
However, along with curve lines make sure that there are also straight lines to create a balance and make the space interesting. The precision of being perfect is out!
Brave and conscious
Just as a statement necklace can enhance an outfit, statement furniture can transform a space. A statement furniture is the focal point of a room and captures the attention of your friends and is something to make you proud of. It’s the unique item that anyone else has! Following the colour trends, think bold colour, clean backdrops, and unexpected accents. Take risks with upholstery textures, colours and design. The vast offer textile colours and patterns allow you to be brave and get that accent chair you so much like!
Then the year is set to bring a wave of sustainable innovation in seated furniture design. Eco-friendly materials such as reclaimed wood, bamboo, and recycled fabrics will take precedence in the crafting of seating options, aligning with the increasing demand for environmentally-responsible furniture choices. Furthermore, the concept of multifunctional and adaptable furniture pieces is expected to gain momentum, offering versatility and sustainability in equal measure. Eco-sustainable choices are there to offer consumers the chance to contribute to a better world.
Hand-made perfect imperfections
There’s an art to creating exceptional design, and it’s never more evident than in bespoke pieces and artisanal work that showcase the incomparable skill of human hands. Cabinet-makers, upholsterer, blacksmiths, artisans of all kind have skills that have been transferred through centuries. When consumerism and nature exploitation weren’t threatening our planet yet.
The integration of sustainable practices, such as upcycling and repurposing, is anticipated to drive the creation of unique, environmentally-responsible interior spaces. Moreover, the emphasis on energy-efficient lighting, renewable materials, and indoor air quality will shape the way interiors are designed and experienced, elevating the focus on eco-conscious living environments.
In summary, this year let’s connect with our planet and heart to create unique living spaces that make us feel good.
